An article in the New York Times last year grabbed readers’ attention with its haunting headline: “Go to the Wrong Hospital and You’re 3 Times More Likely to Die”. The piece was penned following the release of a comprehensive study that examined the vast disparity of patient outcomes (22 million in all) from facility to facility- all over the country.
As an employee benefits professional, the report immediately caught my attention. The topic of patient outcomes and evaluation is one that me and my colleagues have been grappling with for years. Hospitals are risky places, and the hard truth of the matter is that patients have very limited resources outside of personal or provider referrals to help them gauge surgeons and facilities ahead of operation day.
Today, I’m excited to announce that I have joined on with MPIRICA as a member of its Advisory Board. The company’s platform is nothing short of a critical solution in a healthcare ecosystem that lacks sincere evaluation methods. It has all the potential to be the industry game changer. But don’t take my word for it. If you’re in the employee benefits space, head over to MPIRICA’s website and see what it can do for your people.

We’ve been off to a fast-paced start in the new year here at Ursa Major Consulting. From small startups to Fortune 500s, we’re bringing industry-leading benefits strategy and solutions to HR and benefits teams across the country and the globe. While the weather here in California has been anything but spring-like, a new season of regrowth is just around the corner and we’re gearing up for two events that you won’t want to miss.
A hot topic for many of our clients is ‘Employee Experience’, but it’s often misunderstood. If you’re interested in learning more about this phenomenon and how it’s marching full-steam ahead in the world of HR and benefits, join me on February 22 for a free Workforce webinar. We’ll have a Q&A following my presentation, but don’t forget to register!
I’ll also be attending the annual Human Resource Executive Health & Benefits Leadership Conference in Las Vegas April 19-21. This is without a doubt the premier event of the season and I’ll be moderating a not-to-be-missed closing panel with three distinguished colleagues from Walmart, Kellogg, and Cantene. We’ll explore how benefits teams can evolve to meet market and consumer demands while delivering real value in the face of skyrocketing costs and outdated ecosystems. Use Promo Code SPK17 and take $75 off your registration and meet me after my panel to say hello.
Lastly, if you haven’t had a chance to check out our expanded services, head over to our thoroughly revamped website to see how we can help you with your employee benefits needs in 2017. Whatever your size or goals, our flat-fee based delivery model and rolled-up sleeves approach can provide unparalleled benefits value to your people and company culture.
